California Group Health Insurance

With rising health care costs, health insurance has become a major requisite today. Health insurance provides security against medical costs for any illnesses or accidents in the future. The state of California provides many different kinds of health insurance plans and policies for the welfare of the citizens. California health insurance policies are of many different kinds, depending upon the needs, budgets and medical requirements of the purchasers. These are regulated by the California Department of Insurance. Some of the policies are: Indemnity Policies (Traditional Fee-for-Service Insurance), Preferred Provider Organizations (PPOs), Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs or Managed Care), Self-Insured Health Plans (Single Employer Self-Insured Plans) and Multiple Employer Welfare Arrangements (MEWAs). There are also special policies like: Major Risk Medical Insurance Program (MRMIP), Healthy Families Program (HFP), Access for Infants and Mothers Program (AIM), Pacific Health Advantage (PacAdvantage), and other Supplemental Health Insurance Policies. California group health insurance can be provided to a person by an employer or by his/her parent s employer. Group health plans have some advantages over individual health insurance plans. As compared to individual health insurance policies, the waiting period for preexisting conditions is only 6 months. Besides, if the applicant has been insured before for more than 180 days without break, the new insurance policy must contain the prior creditable coverage towards the 6-month waiting period for preexisting conditions. Medical underwriting is also mandatory for large employer (more than 50 employees) group health insurance and association group health insurance. The California Department of Insurance also offers small group health insurance plans for employers who have fewer employees (between 2 and 50). The conditions for large group insurance and small group insurance differ. For small group insurance, coverage should be offered on a guaranteed issue basis irrespective of preexisting conditions. Any prior creditable coverage can be used to decrease or remove the waiting period. Other provisions are rating protections, fair marketing provisions and portability. These days, many insurance companies are offering different kinds of attractive group health insurance polices. Information about these policies can be sourced through the Internet.California Health Insurance Quotes provides detailed information on California Health Insurance, California Health Insurance Quotes, California Health Insurance Plans, California Health Insurance Policies and more.
